FLOT ROBOT BUILDING SQUAD

# Tagline:
Say Hello To My Little Robot Friend
The *Flot Robot Building Squad* course will start with an introduction to what robots
are and culminate with an exhibition of the work at Østerbro International School.
During the 2 months course, the students will have experiences with design,
electronics and code. Robot building will, however, be the turning point for the entire
course and hopefully spark new interest and many future projects.ù

# Teachers and methods
We are Niels and Ole, two young men with a background and schooling in visual,
product and interaction design. We are working hard to guarantee an energetic and
engaging teaching style with focus on having fun while learning.
We believe that the best way to overcome the steep learning curve is by motivating
students through a fun goal oriented process form, thus making the curriculum a lot
less intimidating and easier to grasp.
Through play, experiments and metaphors we dissect the different steps of what it
means to build a robot and break down the tough mathematics and physical laws to
understandable and fun building blocks.

# Overview of course
2 hours, once a week ( one day pr. team ) for 2 month
2 teams of 10-15 participants
2500 kroner per participant

# EDUCATION PLAN
1. What is a robot?
· Input / output
VALUE: Team building, research, basic understanding of electronics

2. From idea to prototype
· How does electricity work?
VALUE: understanding work method, reflection over purpose, low level physics,
experiments with connectivity, light and water.

3. Designing robots ( Project work )
· Coding ( Arduino, web ),
VALUE: Design thinking, basic coding knowledge, human-computer
communication.

4. From electricity to code ( Project work )
· Coding ( Arduino, web ),
VALUE: Understanding relationship between electronics and code, practical
coding,

5. Rapid prototyping ( Project work )
· Coding ( Arduino, web )
VALUE: Build your ideas, continue practical coding.

6. Think your robot — Build your robot ( Final project )
· What do you want to fix?
VALUE: Organizing ideas, choosing project goal, critical test

7. Concept development ( Final project )
· Movement + creating character
VALUE: Bringing life to your robot, developing features and functions.

8. Final project
· Presentation / storytelling
· Exhibition

VALUE: Create communication material, document for future reference, organize school exhibition.

# General value
By the end of the course the child will have skills in:
- physics
- robotics
- coding
- extensive insight in design

# Price
price will be 2.500 DKK per student. This will include materials.

# Important info
At the very least we need minimum 10 students to follow the course. The ideal
scenario is to have 2 classes of 10 students each week.
