ØIS PYP Fencing with Fencing Club Trekanten
Fencing Club Trekanten
Trekanten, situated in Ryparken Idrætsanlæg, was founded in 1929 and is today the largest fencing club in Scandinavia with around 270 members out of which approx. 130 are children between the age of 5 and 18.
Trekanten strongly encourages and supports the many volunteers in the club and we have many social arrangements to strengthen the relations between both children and grown-up members.
Trekanten also runs a strong elite program and we're proud to say that we on cadet and juniors level form the whole national team on male foil fencing and that we have a Junior European Bronze medalist among our fencers.
In 2015-2016 we have a priority on creating growth in the youth department of the club offering a broad range of special workshop periods for school classes, Open House events and cooperation with selected partners, for example Øster International School.
Partnership with Østerbro International School
Trekanten and Østerbro International School will start a partnership this year, training students in fencing skills after school hours. The school will transport the children to the Trekanten fencing facility in Ryparken, where Trekanten is responsible for the training. The parents will pick the children up from the Trekanten facility.
Fencing training and conditions
• The training will start on Monday, 7 September 2015.
• The training will be for boys and girls, aged six to ten years old.
• The training will take place on Mondays from 15.30 - 17.00 at the Trekanten facility in Ryparken.
• An experienced fencing coach will be responsible for the training.

Students will be accompained to the Fencing Club By ASCP Teachers. They will be picked up by their own family at the Fencing Club. The school is not responsible for the pick up.
There will be an introduction period of three weeks. Payment for this period is 300 kr. in cash to pay directly at the Fencing Club, due on the first day. If the children decide to continue after the introduction period, each child will be a member of the club, and the payment will be kr. 210,- per month.
As the children become members of the club they will have the opportunity of participating in other club activities and according to their age, interest and level they will in due time also have the opportunity of participating in other training sessions for children in the club.
The children should bring long sweatpants in indoor sport shoes for the trainings. Trekanten will provide all fencing equipment incuding safety jackets, helmets etc. If the children keep on fencing they are encouraged to - over time - get their own equipment.
Enrollment is coordinated through the school – all payment is handled by Trekanten.
The Coaches
In September and October the training will be in the hands of Nicolai Lykke.
Nicolai is an experienced senior fencer and an experienced teacher and coach. Nicolai has fenced since early childhood himself and enjoys passing on his skills, knowledge and passion for the sport.
From November and onwards the training will be led by Laurence Halsted. Laurence is a strong fencer on the international scene - ranking 28 on the international senior ranking list. Laurence is British and fences for the British national team but he's currently based in Copenhagen and fences in Trekanten and other clubs. Laurence also teaches childrens classes in Trekanten in Danish!
