Ekstra dansk for begyndere – med Christine

 

Dear all,

 

I’m pleased to say that it’s now also possible for PYP Danish B students to improve and expand their Danish knowledge even more!

 

I am currently on my second year in my Bachelor’s Degree Programme in Education at Metropolitan University College and have worked as a substitute teacher at ØIS since January where I have taught both Danish A and B.

 

Learning a new language is difficult as it requires being courageous, taking risks and making linguistic hypotheses. Being from a multicultural family myself (half English, half Danish) and through my education as a teacher-to-be, I understand the challenges that multilingual children face when starting to learn Danish.

 

Through motivational and varied teaching, I hope to create a fun, safe and meaningful environment in collaboration with the students. Their prior knowledge – whether it’s linguistic, cultural or something entirely different – is important when acquiring a new language and will be recognised and actively included with the aim of strengthening their Danish language proficiency, too.

 

I will coordinate with the Danish B teachers at ØIS and aim to plan the classes as a supplement- and repetition tool to what they have worked with during school hours.

Reading, writing, listening and speaking will be central focus points. Activities will most likely include songs, games, reading club, movement etc. Of course I will do my best to make the classes fun for the students, as it is late and after school J

I will start to plan the lessons in more detail when I know the total number of students.

 

There will be 10 classes in total, each will be an hour long for both PYP 1-2 and 3-5. The classes will take place every Wednesday, starting after Easter Break (first class being March 30)

 

PYP 1-2: 14.35 – 15.35 (60 min)

Price: 250 kr per month

 

PYP 2-5: 15.35 – 16.35 (60 min)

Price 250 kr per month
